In the cool highlands of Kirishima, our dogs run, play, and rest as dogs should.
They are raised in nature and watched over by science.
Dogs are meant to use their bodies, follow scents, and feel wind, water, and soil around them.
At ROSCH KENNEL, muddy play and peaceful rest are both part of what we value as a dog-like life.
Chickens live on the property, birdsong comes from the forest, and some days you can feel signs of deer nearby. That animal-rich daily life creates an atmosphere that is hard to explain through words alone.
At the same time, breeding cannot be guided by atmosphere or affection alone.
Giving dogs room to live naturally, while using genetic testing and genomic analysis to watch over their health, is the foundation of ROSCH KENNEL.
We watch the dogs within an animal-rich environment.
We do not separate the dogs from the place around them. Chickens on the property, forest sounds, seasonal air, and outdoor movement all shape what we observe every day.

The Land
750m above sea level,
where the dogs live in cool mountain air.
ROSCH KENNEL sits at about 750m elevation at the foot of the Kirishima mountains. Summer days are usually mild, and winter can drop to -8°C. For active dogs, cool air is an important part of daily comfort.
Kirishima was designated as one of Japan's first national parks in 1934. Volcanic landforms, shifting seasonal colors, birds, and nearby wildlife are part of the dogs' everyday background.
When you visit, you can feel the coolness of the air, the sounds of the property, and the expressions of the dogs in a way photos cannot fully convey. We see this land itself as part of the kennel.
The Water
Volcanic water also supports daily health.
The Kirishima area is shaped by volcanic geology that naturally filters mineral-rich water. Nearby Sekihira mineral spring is known for silica content of 155mg/L and a balanced calcium-to-magnesium ratio of 2:1.
Within this water environment, we pay attention to the water our dogs drink and the meals we prepare. Being able to care about the quality of what they consume every day is one of the strengths of operating a kennel in Kirishima.

Our dogs spend their days running, getting muddy, and following scents in the air. We make room for their natural behavior instead of keeping life only indoors.
Science-Backed
We do not rely only on intuition. We combine genomic analysis, inbreeding coefficient management, hereditary disease screening, and ENS programs.
Welcoming a dog is not only about affection. It also means thinking carefully about lifestyle, health, and long-term responsibility.
We value dogs living naturally, while still checking what can be checked through science. Nature alone is not enough, and data alone is not enough. Holding both together is how we care for the future of the dogs.
Transparency
We publish both reassuring results and results that require care.
From the beginning, we have tested what can reasonably be tested and made the results available. This includes major hereditary conditions such as CEA, TNS, CL, MDR1, and IGS, along with genomic inbreeding coefficient management.
We believe openness is the first step in building trust with families. What can be confirmed through data should be shown through numbers and results whenever possible.
